What have we been working on recently?

 

Just a quick update to mention some of the car repair work we have been carrying for customers in the Hythe, Dibden Purlieu and Waterside Area: A customer had an intermittent fault on their Vauxhall Zafira that meant it would not start at random. We traced the faulty to a defective control module. The cost of a new module is over £900 - so we managed to source a compatible second hand unit and with some reprogramming via diagnostic interface, the car has been fixed at a fraction of the cost. We have also just received delivery of another second hand engine for a Vauxhall Corsa that will be fitted to a customer's car that had severely overheated. At first thought the customer was looking at replacing the head gasket, however this is an uncertain procedure that can lead to escalating costs. Instead we have found a second hand engine that can be swapped over and provide a much more certain outcome. We have recently taken delivery of a new heat induction tool that allows seized components to be freed off without the use of a naked flame. Today we again used this tool to free off a seized track rod end. The customer had reported that the steering wheel was not central when driving straight so we needed to adjust the tracking. Our new tool allowed this to be done quickly and safely, avoiding potential risk of damage to the car with a naked flame.
