We can diagnose and fix problems with Tyre Pressure Monitoring Sensors
Is the TPMS warning light showing on the dash of your car (See image below)? If so the chances are that one of the tyres has lost pressure, caused by a puncture or other tyre damage. We provide a tyre repair and replacement service so we can fix that and reset the dash light - but what if the TPMS system is playing up? We can also diagnose and fix that with a new scanning tool. It can interogate each individual valve sensor and also the main system in the vehicle. If one of the sensors has a fault we can programme a replacement sensor to the wheel and check it is all working again. - Give us a call on 02380845050 if we can help.
There are number of things that can go wrong with the TMPS sensors. They are often mounted on metal valve stalks and over time, these valves corrode and can themselves be the cause of a loss of tyre pressure. Each sensor transmits a radio signal to a control unit on the car and to do this they contain a small battery. The expected battery life is around 7 years after which a new sensor will be needed - they are sealed units so the battery cannot be changed. The cost from the original vehicle maufacturer is often near £100 but we can replace them for around half this price. The design of the sensors mean that they can foul on the tyre rim when a worn tyre is being removed from the wheel and when this occurs it is sometimes possible to replace just the valve fitting but more often than not, the sensor can need replacing too. Here at Shawfix we have undergone training in tyre fitting with TMPS sensors and can avoid these problems. So if you need expert advice on TPMS or tyres, please do call us on 0238085050.
